Pursuit of Pontiac Grand Am, PIT MANEUVER at 110 mph - Driver dropped hard by TASER!

Report:

On 5/14/2025 at approximately 11:48 am, I Trooper First Class Jess Burris #398 was advised by Troop B dispatch that a White
County Deputy was in pursuit of a gold Pontiac Grand Am for driving left of center and careless driving near State Highway 385
and State Highway 13. I was en route to the area when the pursuit turned onto Interstate 57 traveling southbound.

I intercepted the pursuit at the 45 mile marker. Two White County Deputies (Deputy Jeremy Edwards #1676 and Detective Kyle
Williams #1244) were in the pursuit at this time. An attempt was made to box the fleeing vehicle in, however we were
unsuccessful. Around the 44 mile marker, I took over as the primary unit in the pursuit and Sergeant Bryson Schulz #525 joined
the pursuit and took over as the secondary unit.

At this point, speeds were approximately 110 mph. I was able to successfully complete a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (T.V.I.) at
the 41 mile marker. This action caused the suspect vehicle to spin several times counterclockwise while colliding with the cable
barrier. The suspect vehicle came to a final rest disabled in the inside lane facing east.

I, Sergeant Schulz, and several deputies performed a felony takedown of the stalled vehicle. The driver refused to comply with
commands to exit the vehicle. A White County Deputy (Detective Kyle Williams #1244) deployed a less lethal bean bag round
at the vehicle, striking only the vehicle. The driver then exited the vehicle with a beer bottle in his hand and refused commands
to get on the ground. Deputy Jeremy Edwards then effectively deployed his taser, striking the subject, causing him to lean
against the vehicle before falling to the ground and subsequently being placed under arrest.

The suspect was transported to the White County Detention Center via Northstar Ambulance. White County Sheriff’s
Department will be handling the evidence, booking, charges, and the case file.
