Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar visits Washington, DC ahead of St. Patrick's Day on Sunday, meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House and attending the Congressional Friends of Ireland luncheon on Capitol Hill. But some in the Irish government are not sending representatives as part of the delegation in protest of the U.S. position in the war between Israel and Hamas and what they see as President Biden not doing enough to help the Palestinians suffering in Gaza.
Vice President Kamala Harris leads a discussion at the White House on cannabis and criminal justice reform.
One week until another possible partial government shutdown. We speak to CQ Roll Call Appropriations and Budget reporter Aidan Quigley about the negotiations on six FY2024 spending bills, including for the departments of Defense and Homeland Security. (30)
As Civic Learning Week comes to an end, we talk with Wesley Hedgepeth, President of the National Council for the Social Studies and a teacher in Virginia, about how students learn and practice civics and how that can be improved. (35)
