Husqvarna 550, 555, and 562xp muffler mods.

Here are a few of the muffler mods I've done for my saws. Anything to help get the heat out of these guys is a good investment in effort. On the stock muffler from the 550, I've elevated the muffler away from the Crankcase to improve airflow under them in an effort to reduce heat soaking. In addition, by cutting, removing extra metal and rewelding the bottom of the muffler, I've also improved the exhaust flow out, so it doesn't follow along the crankcase and come back around in order to exit, as it has to when stock. One reason I retained the base was to be able to use the same lower mounting holes.

The other 2 are fabricate from aluminum round and square stock. The exhaust port on these exits at a steep angle, so it kind of required something like this. These both are designed to allow more air flow under them to disperse the heat, being made from aluminum the entire muffler acts like a cooling plate. I made spark arrestor screens that are replaceable and prefer to run my saws with them in as it reduces the chance of foreign "stuff" from entering the cylinder while the saw is shut off.
The aluminum muffler saves a significant amount of weight compared to the stock one.

This may not be for everybody, some guys don't like to think outside the box, that's fine...this is my channel and it's mostly geared toward mods and innovation.
