AORAKI / MT COOK NATIONAL PARK /// NEW ZEALAND TRAVEL VLOG

Welcome to Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park! In this New Zealand Travel Vlog, we would love to share our experience of exploring one of the most unique and picturesque places not only in the country but actually anywhere in the world. We decided to spend a couple of days in this national park and find out some of the best walking tracks, where to eat in Mt Cook Alpine Village and also some of the accommodation options. Watch our new travel video to find out more!

South Island of New Zealand is one of the most picturesque places in the world. As we were doing a month-long road trip there, it was absolutely crucial to spend a couple of days in Aoraki Mt Cook National Park to get the ultimate experience. This was our second time here, a couple of years ago we briefly visited the park to do a Tasman Glacier Tour. This time, we wanted to explore walking tracks as the views there are out of this world.

One of the short walks you can do in Mt Cook National Park is Kea Point Track. It takes about 30 minutes to get from the carpark to the scenic lookout or approximately 1-1,5 hours from the village. The walking track is easy and suits the whole family. In winter, there can be snow, which is something you need to be ready for when packing your gear. We had just a couple of layers on as we had our snowboarding gear with us and we were fine. When you get to the lookout, you are rewarded with stunning views of Mount Cook and Mt Sefton as well as a beautiful turquoise glacier lake. If you're lucky, there may be some keas to entertain you, but we didn't see any.

The most popular walking track in Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park is the Hooker Valley Track. It takes approximately 3 hours to complete this track and return to the carpark. It takes you to the Alpine Memorial, via valleys, bridges, streams and lakes to the big Hooker Lake. When you get to the lookout and picnic area, you see the glacier in the distance and can overview this amazing lake covered in icebergs. You can also get close to the lake edge (just be very careful) and touch some of the ice that was part of this big glacier some time ago. Also lots of wonderful photo opportunities on your way!

Aoraki / Mt Cook is one of the most epic New Zealand places and we enjoyed our stay there a lot. We hope you find this travel vlog useful and enjoy the footage we filmed for you. This video is available in Ultra-HD 4K.

PS: this 30-day New Zealand road trip was taking place when NZ was in Alert Level 1, so all the requirements were fulfilled. If you would like to travel during other alert levels, make sure to check the requirements and please stay safe.
