Driving in -83°F and Hell freezes over👿

Credit Cards, Cell Phones and Cameras don't work when hell freezes over. Just got back from Bellingham WA. still a bit road rummy. Just as I got to Bellingham my hometown was ravaged by a nasty windstorm and cold snap -21°F with wind gusts to 91+mph. Trees snapped knocking out power for nearly a week. I tried to beat feet back home to Alaska.
Anyway, going through Canada's Yukon Territory in a little place called Otter Falls Cutoff, I rolled in about 2-3am on Jan 7th, the truck was reading -30°F, low as it reads, last Siri connection said -38°F. The station's fuel pumps were off and I was low on fuel so I had to sleep in the truck. Too cold to put the radiator bra on and couldn't get a sheet of cardboard next to the radiator so i stuffed wadded pages out of an old Steiner parts catalog in the slots of the grill blocking air flow to help keep engine heat up. I run the 6.6 Duramax on fast idle to keep it from slobbering but it still had to re-gen the next day and now I have an engine code.😔 After the station opened ...the very nice lady gave me what had to be THEE best cup of bad coffee I've ever had. 😉😉 She said a day earlier it had been -64° and recorded as the coldest place on earth so far this year. As she pointed the direction I had came from. Later I realized she had been talking 'aboot' the Canadian 🇨🇦 -64°C which is 🇺🇸 -83°F. I knew my feet were getting cold for some reason.😯
She also said several people had been rescued because their car froze up and died as it was running down the road and would not restart. Locals and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police RCMP are super alert when temps drop so low. 👍
