Electric Vehicles come in many different forms but the ones that you're going to hear the most about are full Electric Vehicles (EV) which have no gasoline engines, and none of the gasoline engine maintenance issues, and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) which operate much like your own gasoline car, but give you 40 or more kilometres of electric range before switching over to a mix of gasoline and electric. A PHEV will never run out of range as long as you can make it to a gas station, and therefore they require very little mindset change in order to switch to this type of vehicle.
