Internal frame coating — does it actually work, or is it just expensive peace of mind?
In this episode of Between the Wheels, I put internal frame coating through a real-world test. No lab conditions. No sponsored claims. Just rust, time, weather, and honesty.

I’m restoring a 1972 Nova that’s been off the road since 1977. Like most DIY restorers, I spent hundreds of hours repairing what I can see — but what about the rust hiding inside the frame rails and crossmembers?

In this video, I:
- Test Eastwood Internal Frame Coating on untreated rust
- Combine frame coating with epoxy primer and 2K epoxy
- Leave coated metal outside for 8 months (rain, snow, winter)
- Cut open my own car to see how well the coating actually worked
- Show where it succeeds — and where it completely fails
- Explain why weld seams are still a long-term rust risk
- Demonstrate the right way to protect structure when welding repairs

This isn’t a product endorsement.
It’s a real restoration lesson — including regret, tradeoffs, and what I’d do differently if I started again.

If you’re restoring a classic car at home and wondering whether internal frame coating is “good enough,” this episode will help you decide before it’s too late.
