Look Around Blackpool North Pier

Join us for a look around Blackpool North Pier today - it's the historic Grade 2 Listed Pier in Blackpool. We start our look around on the promenade near the Blackpool Tramway, walk to the end of the pier and enjoy the views. Come along - it's a lovely day!

Blackpool North Pier was opened in 1863 as Blackpool Pier originally. It had been suggested in 1861 because Southport had already built one! It's the oldest remaining example out of 14 piers which were designed by the same man.

In our look around, we start at the front of the Pier and compare today's view with one from the early 1900's. Past the bars at Blackpool North Pier we walk right along the deck to the very end where the children's rides are. There's a lovely carousel at Blackpool North Pier too, have you ever been on it?

The conservatory at Blackpool North Pier is called the Sunset Lounge. There's music and dancing at Blackpool North Pier - held here in this lovely open-air sun-trap! The Theatre is also at this end of the pier, and the pier itself ends with a view right out to sea.

Do you remember the jetty at Blackpool North Pier? It was added in 1866 and extended in 1869 to enable bigger steamer boats to berth. Sadly it was wrecked in a storm in 1997.
