My Experience with End of Life and Death (Part 4): Home Funerals, Green Burials and Cremation

One of the first question one ponders about death is whether they want to be buried or cremated. Do they want to call a funeral home or have a home funeral or perhaps a memorial service in the woods? Green burials are becoming more popular. There are a growing number of options for people who want alternative choices. Traditional funerals in a funeral home can be quite expensive. But with proper planning, you can create a meaningful ceremony without a lot of the extra costs.

Amy Cunningham, Funeral Director, Fitting Tribute Funeral Services was our funeral director for my mother's home funeral. She gently walked us through each of the steps so we knew what to expect. When emotions are running high, you want to be able to make thoughtful decisions about your loved one. I sat down with Amy and we chatted about my mother's funeral, how home funerals bring a personalized feel, green burials and resources that you should know about when planning a funeral, especially if you want to plan an alternative funeral.
