Discover Pretoria - The Garden City of South Africa | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids

The administrative capital of South Africa, Pretoria, or the 'Jacaranda City' is best known for its annual display of purple flowers in October. Located in the northern part of Gauteng, Pretoria is the historic centre of government in the former ZAR. Pretoria is also known as Tshwane, named after the Tswana/Ndebele Chief Tshwane.

Whenever we travel, it's always about the people we meet and here, in Pretoria, it was just that. We connected with a homeschooling family and the kids had such a blast!

During our visit we stayed at the Ngata Lodge in the Dinokeng Game Reserve which is located inside the city limits.

We visited the city center where we learned about Paul Kruger also toured the original Johannesburg gold mines and world famous Sterkfontein Caves.
