2020 ACA Health Insurance Subsidy Repayment Suspended
A provision of the American Rescue Plan suspends the repayment of excess Advance Premium Tax Credit subsidies for tax year 2020. Individuals and families may have to repay part or all of the health insurance subsidies they received if their income is higher than they originally estimated. This can happen because of unemployment benefits received. If the taxpayer income exceeds 400% of the federal poverty level, they have to repay ALL of the subsidies. The American Rescue Plan suspends this repayment for 2020.
