4 NEW Android 12 Privacy Features in 4 minutes (GrapheneOS)

Android 12 shipped with a bunch of new features. One such feature consolidates app and device permissions into a single, easy-to-manage dashboard, giving users not only more control over permissions but also a lot easier time managing them. Android permissions have always been a bit cumbersome to manage, the Privacy Dashboard puts everything in one place making it easy to see and manage. You're presented with an easy-to-use timeline that shows when and which apps accessed various resources (camera, microphone, GPS) on your device.

Android 12 also implements an easy to see, visual indicator when any app is using your camera, microphone, or GPS. This is a helpful way to know when those are being used and make sure they are only in use when you expect them to be.

You also can system-wide disable microphone and camera permissions with a single click. This blocks any apps from accessing those resources and you can rest assured they're not being used.

Lastly, location now can be provided to an app as precise, or approximate. Approximate will do as it says, give your approximate location to the app. The great thing about this is now apps that don't require your exact location (weather app) can now be given your general location to preserve your privacy a bit more. When an app such as navigation needs it, you can give it your precise location. This is a long-awaited feature to help fight back against apps always wanting to know your exact locations at all times.
