At 19:34 local time, a Houthi TEL concealed in a wadi northeast of Khokha, Yemen fired a Khalij Fars anti-ship ballistic missile at USS Paul Hamilton (DDG-60) transiting the Red Sea at 16 knots. A Space Based Infrared System satellite detected the launch thermal bloom in seconds. The SBIRS cue reached Paul Hamilton's Aegis combat system via Link 16 in nine seconds. The SPY-1D had a confirmed ballistic track at sixteen seconds. The Houthi command cell had a drone at 800 meters watching Paul Hamilton maneuver and interpreted the course change as evidence of disruption.

Paul Hamilton fired one SM-2 Block IIIB at 19:36. Intercept at 23,400 meters altitude, 42.3 nautical miles out, three minutes and seventeen seconds after launch detection.
