It's tax time, and all of you should have received your 1099's by now. Does it match up with the earnings you have record of, IF you even kept good records that is? There's some reasons as to why your records might not match up with the company that sent in your 1099. For example, the Gig Company DoorDash bases theirs on when they deposited earnings into your account, NOT the actual date worked. This can create a lot of confusion and discrepancies, IF you're not tracking as they are. The information as to how they report earnings on the 1099 for each year, go to their website(link below). There's also a chance that the company reporting your earnings, might be fraudulently reporting a higher amount, BUT you better have good record and proof to back this up before barking up that tree!! In this video, I share the simple steps you need to take to get your 1099 corrected, and resubmitted to the IRS. That way whatever you report to the IRS matches what the company sends in. This will prevent any emails from the IRS stating that you owe more money, in the near future.
