Reduced Number of Painkiller Tablets (To Keep You Safe)

The common painkiller paracetamol is apparently too dangerous for Australians hospitalising around 225 people every year, and killing around 50 of us from misuse and overdose (mainly intentional). Consequently, the TGA in their infinite wisdom have decided to reduce the maximum size of packs of the popular painkiller in supermarkets from 20 pills currently to 16 pills per box from February 2025. I wonder if the price will go down as well? I doubt it. The TGA are also encouraging supermarkets to limit paracetamol sales to one pack per customer. That will be hard to get around, won’t it? If I really wanted to buy more than 16 tablets, couldn’t I just go to another supermarket, or heck, even go to the same supermarket five minutes later! Who’s going to know? Also, the TGA are urging Australians not to stockpile the painkiller at home. What about you? Have you, like me, stopped listening to the TGA?
