It is over 75 years ago that Professor Dr. Willem Kolff changed the lives of kidney patients forever. He dreamt great and built an artificial kidney. With a water pump from a T-Ford, aluminum from a shot-down airplane, sausage skins and the engine of a sewing machine.
An unprecedented breakthrough that has saved the lives of millions of kidney patients ever since. A life saving therapy, but at the same time extremely hard. Now, many years after the invention of Prof. dr. Kolff, we are working on a new breakthrough. Because the Dutch Kidney Foundation dreams, dares and does. Together with international top scientists, we do everything we can to give kidney patients back their freedom.
