L. Revutsky (1889-1977) Symphony No.2 FIRST EDITION/Перша редакція
(00:00) Allegro moderato
(13:06) Adagio
(21:16) Molto allegro, quasi presto
Exciting news! A copy of the first edition of Revutsky's Symphony No. 2 was found in the library of the Lviv National Philharmonic. Here we have a performance of the resurrected work from September 2020 which needs far more publicity and access in English. The work was written in 1927, however, the first edition notes burned at the end of 1928 during a fire in the Kyiv Philharmonic and it was assumed this was the only copy. It was only in 1939–1940 that the composer reconstructed the score from memory, and this became the version known well today (second version). The score in the link below has a long explanation in English about the composer and this work.
