Cut Off the Head of the Snake is the ninth episode of Survivor: Caramoan.
Challenge: Last Gasp
Winner: Brenda Lowe
Story
Day 23
On Day 23, Malcolm planned to split the vote with Reynold and Eddie. He tried to convince Sherri and Dawn to get the others to go along with his idea, but Dawn planned on voting Malcolm out instead.

Day 24
Day 25
At the Day 25 Immunity Challenge, the remaining 11 competed for immunity. Eventually, Brenda won using a handmade (literally) snorkel. Eddie flirted with Andrea back into the game, and Reynold foolishly handed his idol to Malcolm so he could get rid of the idol. The original target of the Stealth R Us 2.0 alliance was Malcolm, but Andrea felt that Malcolm would use a Hidden Immunity Idol, so she frantically convinced her alliance to vote off Michael minutes before Tribal Council. Malcolm had no votes at all, upsetting the mistaken Reynold. Eventually, Michael Snow was blindsided by Phillip's dominating alliance.

Last Gasp is a challenge in Survivor.
Rules
The players must swim under a steel grate and stay above the water. As the tide rises, player will run out of breathing room. If the fear of drowning is too much, that person can bail out. The last person still in the grate wins the challenge.

Usage
This challenge debuted in Survivor: Palau as an Immunity Challenge. An additional stipulation noted that the first person to bail out of the challenge would be banished to Exile Island. Six minutes into the challenge, a cold and panicked Janu Tornell opted out of the challenge, and was the first person sent to Exile Island in Survivor history. Tom Westman won immunity, though his immunity had no effect due to Janu quitting the game at Tribal Council.

The challenge reappeared in Survivor: Micronesia as the first Immunity Challenge for the newly merged tribe Dabu. Ultimately, it came down to Jason Siska and Ozzy Lusth. Ozzy bailed out, giving Jason the immunity win.

The challenge was most recently used in Survivor: Caramoan, it was the second individual Immunity Challenge. After John Cochran, Eddie Fox, and Reynold Toepfer dropped out in succession, only Andrea Boehlke and Brenda Lowe remained. Eventually, Andrea opted out, making Brenda the only woman to win this challenge.
Trivia
This challenge was used in both seasons filmed in Palau.
This challenge was used in both Fans vs. Favorites seasons: Micronesia and Caramoan.
Erik Reichenbach is the only contestant to participate in this challenge twice. He lost the challenge both times.
Brenda Lowe is the first and currently only woman to win this challenge.
Both times the challenge was used on a merged tribe, the color was green.
Had a merge happened in Palau, the tribe color would have also been green.

Survivor: Caramoan, also known as Survivor: Caramoan — Fans vs. Favorites, is the twenty-sixth season of Survivor. This season was the second season to feature the Fans vs. Favorites format, originally introduced to viewers in Survivor: Micronesia. John Cochran was crowned the Sole Survivor after achieving the second "perfect game" in Survivor history. Cochran beat out Dawn Meehan and Sherri Biethman in an 8-0-0 jury vote. It would ultimately feature two medical evacuations, and has to date produced two returning players (Andrea Boehlke and Malcolm Freberg) for subsequent seasons.
Production
This season repeats the back-to-back filming seen since 2009. Production for Caramoan began two-and-a-half weeks after Survivor: Philippines finished filming.[2] CBS announced on January 11 that the season premiere would last for 2 hours; however, on February 7, CBS changed the premiere to be only 90 minutes long.

A casting call happened the same way as it did in Survivor: Micronesia. Jeff Probst stated that they would have liked to have Shambo Waters of Survivor: Samoa and Matt Elrod of Survivor: Redemption Island back, but both said that they were "done with Survivor" and Lisa Whelchel of Survivor: Philippines was considered difficult to be brought back on back-to-back seasons due to being a mother....
