Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) expects the global semiconductor market to exceed $1.5T by 2030, up from its prior $1T forecast.

AI and HPC are projected to make up 55% of the market by 2030, with smartphones at 20% and automotive at 10%.

TSMC also forecasts AI accelerator wafer demand to increase 11-fold from 2022 to 2026.

To meet demand, TSMC said it is accelerating capacity expansion across 2025 and 2026 and plans to build nine phases of wafer fabs and advanced packaging facilities in 2026.

The company expects capacity for its leading-edge 2nm and next-generation A16 chips to grow at a 70% CAGR from 2026 through 2028.

TSMC also projected CoWoS advanced packaging capacity to grow at more than an 80% CAGR from 2022 to 2027.
