The Best Way to Produce BMW’s i4 Series - What's new in 2022 - Auto Tip Off

There has been the first production run of the BMW i4 at BMW Group Plant Munich. An almost century-old factory is now producing all of the automaker's vehicle models on a single assembly line. This is a significant manufacturing and production milestone for BMW's journey toward electric vehicles. Both the BMW 3 Series Sedan and Touring, M3, and Gran Coupe, along with the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, are built at this Munich plant.
To integrate high-voltage battery assembly, additional machines and techniques were needed to utilize the Munich body shop's 90 percent existing systems. As reported, the integration required a financial commitment of 200 million euros or about $233 million at today's rates. This includes 3D scans of the building's basic digital data, which have been used to digitalize the plant. Every major BMW Group car plant will have been scanned and digital data will be made available to the public by the end of 2022.
