Chopin's Polonaise in D minor, opus 71 no. 1 (Allegro maestoso)
Played by the Polish pianist Halina Czerny-Stefańska (1922-2001, indeed a descendent of the famous piano pedagogue Carl Czerny). She studied with Alfred Cortot in Paris and Józef Turczyński and Zbigniew Drzewiecki in Warsaw. She shared the first prize at the 1949 International Chopin Competition with Bella Davidovich. Soon after, she was invited to play a recital in London, where she made this recording in 1950.
