Roaring Twenties: Mike Markel's Orch. & Refrain - Precious, 1926

Mike Markel’s Orchestra – Precious, Fox-Trot (Egan-Whiting-Pasternacki) with Vocal Chorus, Brunswick 1926 (USA)

NOTE: This dance hit is one more so-called “fox-trot” of the mid-1920s which is actually the charleston. It will remain a mystery to me why record producers usually avoided the name "charleston" on the record labels, even though this new dance was an absolute craze of those years. Perhaps this name would have discouraged older customers with money in their wallets. Unlike in our times, the trading target wasn't then a teenager with a big pocket money, but a solid burgher with an income. Another secret cvonnected with this side is, how’s that possible the Mike Markel’s band – orchestra wchich recorded dozens of excellent dance sides at Edison, Brunswick and dozen of other labels in the USA, has left behind so little information about it’s profile and activity in the Roaring Twenties! All I can say, it must have been quite an important dance orchestra, if the prominent musicians of the Jazz Age such as Red Nichols (trumpet), Miff Mole (trombone) or Jimmy Johnston (sax) admit, they played for some time in Mike Markel's band.
