Can You Rap And Go To College Introduction

Today’s video was inspired by a comment in our recent “3 Secrets To Writing Better Rap Songs” video, where subscriber, “Young Win Jay” asked:

“Can I get tips on how I can do my rap career and college at the same time? My parents want me to get that degree.”

Great question.

Now, the first and most important lesson to always ask yourself when thinking, “Can I do XYZ and become a rapper?” is…

ARE THERE RAPPERS WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN MY SITUATION AND MADE IT?

Of course, in the case of rappers going to college, we not only have many examples of rappers blowing up after attending college…

…But we have some pretty surprising names that are MASSIVE Hip-Hop superstars who not only went to college…

…But went to PRESTIGIOUS and difficult ones.

Rappers Who Went To College

Take for example multitalented rapper, singer, and actor Childish Gambino.

He not only attended college, but went to one of the most illustrious schools in the U.S. for entertainment, NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts, the same school the produced everybody from Spike Lee to Lady Gaga.

Funny enough just to double down on this point, both Talib Kweli AND Mos Def also attended that particular school.

Additionally, there are household name level rappers, such as J. Cole who not only WENT to college but actually CRUSHED it there while getting get at rapping (and producing), with J. Cole graduating summa cum laude from St. John’s University.

So, whether it’s P. Diddy famously taking the Amtrak up to New York to intern for Andre Harrell while attending Howard University, or it’s 2Chainz graduated from Alabama State University before blowing up as a rapper in his later years…

…There are literally tons of examples of people becoming not just rappers who go to college, but HUGE legendary ICONS.
