How to get a bountiful harvest in Vancouver |Darrell Smith

What's the best fertilizer for tomatoes in early summer?

As tomato plants enter their active growing season, feeding them regularly can make a big difference in flower production and fruit development.

Here are two fertilizer options we recommend:

* Slow-Release Powder Fertilizer

- Mix it into the soil before planting
- If your tomatoes are already planted, simply sprinkle it on top of the soil and lightly work it in
- Provides a steady supply of nutrients for approximately 2–4 weeks
- Great for maintaining consistent growth throughout the season

* Liquid Tomato & Vegetable Fertilizer (3-1-4)

- Mix with water and apply directly to the root zone
- Nutrients become available to the plant much faster
- Ideal during active growth when tomatoes need quick access to nutrients
- Helps support healthy roots, vigorous growth, and fruit production

The advantage of liquid fertilizer is speed. Because it's mixed with water, nutrients can be absorbed much more quickly than granular fertilizers, making it a great choice when plants need an immediate boost.

For the best results, keep tomatoes consistently watered and fed throughout the growing season. Healthy plants now mean more flowers, more fruit, and a bigger harvest later!
