CleanTX Releases Report on ERCOT's Utilization of IT and Incorporating Wind Energy

CleanTX has recently partnered with Dell Technologies and IdeaSmiths to investigate and release a report on the influence of information technology on the electric grid in Texas. This report focuses on the role IT played in enabling ERCOT's transition to a nodal market, the subsequent impacts on the penetration of renewable energy, and the resulting effects on carbon emissions and electricity prices. Specifically, how ERCOT was able to incorporate over 20 GW of Wind Energy and lower energy prices by 18%. In summary, IT and data have been core enablers in this transition. The lessons learned from the use of IT in Texas to enable renewables are important for Texas, but also important for all grids looking to integrate renewables into their energy mix.
