He was known for his improvisational skills and creating a wide range of characters in both comedic and dramatic films. Many consider him to be one of the greatest comedians of all time. Williams was also known for being open about his sobriety and for helping others. In 1998, he won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Good Will Hunting.
