Production Date: 1913

Scope & Content: An immigrant from South Central Europe comes to Gary, Indiana, where he is employed by the Illinois Steel Co. of the U.S. Steel Corporation. It consists mostly of demonstrations of safety devices used when working in a steel plant, on a railroad, and with machine tools, and includes views of Gary and its facilities for workers and their families. This film was photographed by Carl Louis Gregory and produced by the Thanhouser Film Corporation under the direction of the Committee of Safety of the United States Steel Corporation.
