Panorâmico de Monsanto | Rediscovering Portugal

In the middle of the labyrinth of forests that is Monsanto, there is an abandoned panoramic restaurant with a 360 view of Lisbon and the Tagus river. It used to be closed to the public, but people kept finding ways to sneak in and enjoy the view, and the space itself. A friend and I heard of this place a while ago, we thought we’d park far away from the entrance and sneak in before sunrise, through a whole in the fence on the right side of the gate.

It took us so long to actually do it, while so many other people kept doing it that the owner decided to clean it up a little and open it to the public. Less trouble. My friend couldn’t make it but others could, so this is the first view of the well-known “Miradouro Panorâmico de Monsanto”. We’ll be back but this was a nice introduction.
