Sydney Monorail - Pyrmont Bridge (1997)

The most unique feature of the Sydney Monorail (1988-2013) was the crossing of the 1902 Pyrmont Bridge. Since 1981 the bridge has carried only bicycles and pedestrians, and for a quarter century, the Sydney Monorail. Pyrmont Bridge features one of the largest swing spans in the world. Engineers cleverly designed the monorail to stay stationary above the swing bridge, or in the case of very tall ships, the monorail track could swing around as well. This video captures a swing where the monorail trains continued to cross.
