CFRP Doesn't Corrode. Why Does Marine Lag? #cfrp #shorts

Marine holds just 12% of global fiber composite manufacturing, behind automotive, behind construction. Not because the material underperforms.

A 2025 review in Polymers builds the case: CFRP above 3,500 MPa tensile strength, 20 to 40% weight reduction on deck structures, and carbon-thermoplastic systems retaining above 90% of properties after prolonged seawater immersion. AFP is the process that makes precision fiber placement possible, and the review names exactly what still needs solving.
