It is among the world's largest annual public gathering that is held every year in Karbala, Iraq at the end of the 40-day mourning period following Ashura, the religious ritual for the commemoration of the martyrdom of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad Imam Hussain. keep in mind I am not Shia. It is a 92 Km march from Najaf to Karbala. I also walked in the streets of Kazmia Baghdad. There was a curfew in those days and my movement was restricted due to unrest in Iraq. Rural Iraq is also beautiful. Iraq's population is about 39 Million. one-eighth of Iraq's total area is arable, and another one-tenth is permanent pasture. I also visited Imam Hussain Shrine. Masjid Kufa is located in Kufa. it is one of the earliest and holiest surviving mosques in the world. The mosque, built in the 7th century. In the end, I visited Hazrat Ali Shrine in Najaf City.
