With aims to achieve high-quality economic development and further opening up to the outside world, China has been carrying out systematic reforms and technological innovation over the years. Last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping made intellectual property rights (IPR) protection a national strategy. In his speech, Xi said innovation is the primary driving force behind development, and protecting IPR is equal to protecting innovation. Frank Ning Gaoning, chairman of Sinochem and ChemChina, and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, also voiced his concerns on IP protection and innovation during this year's Two Sessions. He elaborated further on the topic in a recent interview.
