We’ll be going over the Elantra’s specs, and we'll detail exactly what sets this car apart from the rest in terms of its technology.

Beyond that, we’ll also be covering its pros and cons, as well as the individual features that may have you reaching for your wallet - or slowly putting it away. Above all, by the end of this video, you’ll have a precise, clear idea of what the 2021 Elantra is, as well as the answer to the question: “Is it a good car?”

Buckle up, rev your engines, and let’s get this review on the road.

A Brief Introduction to the Hyundai Elantra

Most of you are probably already well-acquainted with the Elantra name, which is more or less synonymous with “reliable, sensible automobiles from Hyundai”. It’s no secret that, at least in previous years, Hyundai has begun to play fast and loose with the idea of a fairly conservative and economic family-oriented vehicle, pushing the designs of their cars - and especially recent models of the Elantra - further and further away from what was once the norm. However, the 2021 model of one of Hyundai’s most recognizable vehicles ups the ante and then some when it comes to totally embellishing a tried-and-tested design.

That fact is instantly clear upon first glance. You’ll immediately notice that the 2021 Elantra is both longer and wider than previous models, with an incredibly appealing sleek roofline. On the whole, the car is more minimalistic but also far more stylish and attractive than previous models. On the inside, you’ll find an abundance of legroom, as well as a new panel design that fits perfectly with the rest of the vehicle’s overall design scheme.

Of course, there’s far more to the 2021 Elantra than pure aesthetics, and we’ll be covering all of that shortly. We just wanted to make it absolutely clear that this is definitely not the Elantra you think you know - and we think that’s a good thing.

Specifications and Performance

A carryover from previous generations, the 2021 Elantra features a standard non-hybrid powertrain. However, this Elantra is powered by a 147-hp four-cylinder engine. This is true for each version of the 2021 Elantra, from the SEL to the Hybrid. Your only option is front-wheel drive, along with a continuously variable automatic transmission.

The four-cylinder engine of the hybrid model totals 1.6 litres and comes paired with an electric motor that pushes the horsepower up to 139. You’ll be changing gears with a six-speed automatic clutch, which doesn’t make for the most exciting or thrilling levels of acceleration, but it may just be enough to satisfy most consumers. You’ll just have to wait until the opportunity for a test drive comes along to see for yourself.

Of all of the 2021 Elantra variations we’ll see soon, we’re most looking forward to finding out more about the N-Line model. Hyundai hasn’t released its specifications yet, but we think it’s a safe bet to assume that the company’s turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder will be its powertrain. Additionally, we’re hoping that the N-Line will also include a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch, though we wouldn’t mind a six-speed manual transmission, either.

All in all, you’re looking at a decent car in terms of pure technology. It’s not exactly amazing, but it doesn’t really try to be. This is a car for sensibly-minded people. That becomes even clearer once you take a look at some of the more positive aspects that the 2021 Elantra features.

Comfort Levels and Interior Design

Where the 2021 Elantra shines is in its interior sensibilities. It’s abundantly clear that it was designed with spaciousness and comfort in mind. As such, expect to have plenty of room whether you’re behind the wheel or on-board as a passenger.

In terms of aesthetics, the Elantra features a bold, stylish update, which you’ll immediately notice when you’re behind the wheel. The dashboard and center console wrap around the driver’s side, creating a feeling of total control when you’re driving. The passenger side has a more minimalistic design, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though you’ll definitely have less access to many of the Elantra’s interior features.

That being said, one of the coolest features here that both the passenger and driver can appreciate is the LED strip that follows the dashboard-spanning air vent, all the way from the steering column to the passenger’s side door panel. It’s flashy and totally superfluous, but it has a way of making the car shine - literally and metaphorically, of course.

Finally, as we said earlier, you’ll never go wanting for space when you’re seated in the 2021 Elantra.
