New Mugler Angel Muse EDT versus Angel Muse EDP

In this review, I will be reviewing the New Angel Muse Eau de Toilette from Mugler fragrances. I will be comparing the new Eau de Toilette version to the original Angel Muse Eau de Parfum. So which are you?

The latest addition to the Angel Muse range is the Angel Muse Eau de Toilette, which was launched at the latter end of 2017.

The bottle is very smooth, quite flat and incredibly tactile. The inspiration for the shape is a cosmic pebble. It is easy to hold unlike the star shape of the Angel EDP. The bottle is outlined in silver and in some cases rose gold. The juice is a lovely pinky red colour, supposedly reminiscent of the surface of the planet Mars. On the front of the bottle is the original Angel star etched into the glass. If you imagine that the Mugler Angel is the star, all the further creations orbit around it, all containing a familiar thread.

The Angel Muse Eau de Toilette is classed as an Oriental Vanilla. It was created by Quentin Bisch, who has also created fragrances for Fragonard, Chloe and Jean Paul Gaultier to name but a few. Interestingly, when first learning how to create fragrances, he was told he wasn't gifted enough. He then went on to pursue a career in dance whilst maintaining his passion for fragrance, creating some really iconic, well-known fragrances.

When I first spray this fragrance, it is quite fruity but soft with the top notes of Mandarin and Passionfruit. It draws you in, remaining fresh but picking up slightly sweet and sour almost tangy elements from the Passionfruit, well balanced with the Mandarin.

Then comes the delectable heart notes which really makes this fragrance stand out. The heart in both the Muse EDT and EDP is a delicious Hazelnut Cream. Let's be honest, what lady can resist chocolate, Hazelnut or in this case both?( I know I can't, yum! )This wonderful chocolate and hazelnut creaminess make the perfume alluring and addictive. You just want to keep smelling it over and over, at the same time the top notes giving it that fresh, fruity edge.

While this is settling on your senses, in comes the base notes of Akigalawood and Vetiver. The Angel Muse EDT and EDP were the first fragrances to create a Gourmand Vetiver essence. Usually, vetiver is mainly used in men's fragrance, making it rather earthy. In this particular perfume, it makes it soft, inviting almost a hint of chocolate vanilla, or like feeling a soft velvet brush against your skin. The Akigalawood ( a derivative from Patchouli) giving it a hint of woods, slightly spiced which with all these base notes combined make it long- lasting on the skin.

The overall essence is soft, subtle, slightly fruity and ultimately addictive. If you are like me, not the greatest admirer of the Original Angel EDP with its heavy sometimes cloying notes of sweet honey and dark chocolate, which frankly smell unattractive on my skin and gives me headaches in its sweetness. This is a lovely alternative and I think would be worth a spray to try and I think you'll be surprised. I was.

Now comparing the EDT version fo the Angel Muse Eau de Parfum.

The Muse EDP was launched in April 2016. This is also classed as an Oriental Vanilla and again was created by Quentin Bisch.

When I sprayed this perfume, I was at once struck by that same velvety softness but the EDP version is more woodsy, deeper and intense.

Opening with top notes of Grapefruit, Berries and Pink Pepper. At once you receive the sharp fruity note of the Grapefruit with a kick of heat from the Pink Pepper. I can't say I can particularly smell the berries but again you are drawn into the heart of that delightful Hazelnut Cream, soft and luxurious. Followed by the heavier more intense base notes of Patchouli and Vetiver.

The overall scent is soft, fresh, fruity and warm. This one is going to last the longest on your skin as it contains more woods and is deeper.

Depending on how you want your fragrance to last on your skin, whether you like a perfume to be lighter, more subtle or if you just want a fragrance for daytime or for warmer days in the summer, or if you like your fragrance to have more impact you can choose between the two. The Muse Eau de Toilette for daytime the Angel Muse Eau de Parfum for evening perhaps?

These fragrances would be particularly good additions for anyone who enjoys wearing Tom Ford Noir de Noir, TF Black Orchid and Velvet Orchid, YSL Black Opium, Giorgio Armani Si, Flowerbomb or other Gourmand Vanilla Perfumes.

I have done some reviews on some of these fragrances so take a look.

I hope you have enjoyed this review. Let me Know which of the Muse you would wear and leave me your comments.
