The recording named “Horacio Lavandera Plays Astor Piazzolla” received the Award “Golden Melómano” in 2016. The publication stated: “Lavandera takes us into the world of Piazzolla brilliantly, using the typical rhythmic flexibility and freedom of aesthetic expression of the compo ser”. – Francisco J. The works included in this CD are my arrangements for piano, based mainly on the work that Astor Piazzolla did with his Quintet. The special union of sounds of the bandoneon, electric guitar, piano, violin and double-bass, and the way of composing this chamber music, conformed a synthesis of his style. It was one of his most successful projects that changed forever the typical music of Buenos Aires, the "Tango". The history of Argentina
during the twentieth century was full of contradictions and unevenness, in his work Piazzolla shows these contrasts. His art is always in the middle of an abysm. Between being and not to be.
To make these arrangements I carefully studied the scores of the Quintet, besides the long listening time of the existing recordings for this ensemble. The way to ornament the melodic drafts are always different. The accompaniment of the left hand, for example, sounds sometimes "dirt". My father José María, a founding member of the Orchestra of Tango in Buenos Aires for over thirty years, advised me in many aspects. I must also mention the
important influences of the great pianists of the genre: Horacio Salgán, Carlos García, Osvaldo Manzi, Dante Amicarelli, Atilio Stampone y Pablo Ziegler.
“Las cuatro estaciones porteñas” ("The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires"). Composed between 1965 and 1970 for his Quintet (bandoneon soloist, electric guitar, piano, violin and double-bass) Piazzolla said, after the live recording of this work in the
Regina Theatre in Buenos Aires: "I can die in peace".
These four works, which later form a Suite, are a tribute to the "Four Seasons" by Vivaldi inspired by the structure, concept and virtuosity of it. It is a new "baroque", full of counterpoints, where voices and rhythms cross, It is clearly typical of Astor Piazzolla´s music.

Las obras incluidas en este disco son todos arreglos míos para piano solo basados fundamentalmente en la labor de Astor Piazzolla con su Quinteto. La formación sonora del bandoneón, guitarra eléctrica, piano, violín y contrabajo y el modo de componer esta música de cámara conformó una síntesis de su estilo. Fue uno de sus proyectos más logrados y que cambió para siempre la música típica de Buenos Aires, el tango. La historia de Argentina durante todo el siglo XX estuvo llena de contradicciones y altibajos. En su obra Piazzolla muestra estos contrastes. Su arte siempre está en medio de un abismo. Entre el ser y no ser.

Para realizar estos arreglos estudié detenidamente las partituras del Quinteto además de largas horas de escucha de grabaciones de esta formación. Los modos de ornamentar los giros melódicos son siempre distinto. El acompañamiento de la mano izquierda suena a veces con “suciedad”. Mi padre José María, miembro fundador de la Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires hace más de treinta años me aconsejó en muchísimos aspectos. También debo citar como influencias a la hora de llevar a cabo esta tarea a los grandes pianistas del género: Horacio Salgán, Carlos Gracía, Osvaldo Manzi, Dante Amicarelli, Atilio Stampone, Pablo Ziegler.
Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas. Compuestas en 1970 para su Quinteto. “Me puedo morir tranquilo” dijo Piazzolla luego de la grabación en vivo desde el Teatro Regina de Buenos Aires de esta obra. Es un homenaje a las Cuatro estaciones de Vivaldi. Es un nuevo “barroquismo”, lleno de contrapuntos, cruces de voces y ritmos netamente típicos de su música.
