If you are looking at installing a diesel heater for camping in the winter months, we absolutely highly recommend it. We originally had installed one in our previous Jayco Swan which worked a treat and nowadays, we find that the diesel heater installed in our Jayco Journey 15.48-6 caravan is just a lifesaver when the temps get minimal whilst camping.

The heater that we chose was from eBay for about $150. The install can be done by yourself if you have some electrical knowledge and are handy, otherwise you could contact a plumber or sparky to install. In this video Peter runs through what was done for the installation.

These heaters are completely safe and can be left on all night. However we do recommend that you install a carbon detector as well as making sure that your smoke alarm works properly.

On a typical night where the temp is about 5 degrees outside, the temp inside the van maintains at approx 24 degrees at the lowest setting so you could get great heating in minus temps.
