Thousands of people gathered in Bhutan’s capital city Thimphu for the Mask Dance Festival, known locally as the Thimphu Tshechu. The festival is celebrated on the tenth day of the 8th lunar month in the Bhutanese calendar. The event commemorates teachings of Guru Rinpoche, a Buddhist master who spread Buddhism to Bhutan.
