Safari in South Africa: Lion Cub wants to Play

This video was recorded in a dry river bed near Tanda Tula Safari Camp in the vicinity of Kruger National Park.

The adult members of the lion pride were resting in the cool sand, but the single lion cub of the pride was a bit bored.

The cub turned his attention from the safari vehicles to various members of the pride in an attempt to get them to play.

Eventually the cub settled down to nurse from his mother. If you listen carefully, you can hear the cub growl just before he nurses.

We visited three camps on safari in South Africa in the area near Kruger National Park. In these videos of South Africa, I wanted to provide examples of what it is like to view wildlife on a typical safari. I have not added music or tried to minimize the typical sounds one hears on safari. There is wind noise, camera shutters firing, people talking and rangers explaining wildlife behavior in addition to the natural sounds.
