Finding your breakthrough idea | Dorie Clark | TEDxBeaconStreet

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. If you want to make an impact, it takes more than just smarts and hard work. You need to identify your breakthrough idea – a new way of looking at the world that prompts others to listen, understand, and share it. Dorie Clark of Duke University's Fuqua School of Business draws on her research to explain the strategies you can use to develop your own breakthrough idea and make the difference you were meant to deliver.

Dorie Clark is the author of Reinventing You and the forthcoming Stand Out. She is a former presidential campaign spokeswoman and an adjunct professor at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. She also consults and speaks for clients such as Google, Fidelity, Yale University, and the World Bank.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
