Secret Vault Holds The World's Greatest Inventions | Greatest Inventions | Spark

In a secret corner of England lies a remarkable place – the Science Museum vaults. Housing 35,000 items across 10 gigantic hangars, it is the biggest invention time capsule in the world. Now, for the first time, a team of celebrity presenters crack open these vaults to explore the treasures within and find the inventions that have built our world. These big inventions are: the television, presented by Sir Trevor McDonald; penicillin, presented by Angela Rippon; the fridge, fronted by Giles Coren; the steam engine, fronted by Len Goodman; concrete, presented by Nick Knowles; the mobile phone, covered by Angela Scanlon and the jet engine, presented by David Harewood. With additional insight from museum experts, and a look at some priceless objects that relate to these inventions, this programme opens not just the vaults, but a fascinating window into our past.
