Buckingham Palace Changing of the Guard - the Royal Navy and 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards

For the second time in the history of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, the men and women of the Royal Navy (the new guard) mount guard for ceremonial duties at Buckingham palace, St James’s palace, Windsor castle and the Tower of London. The old guard consists of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. The new guard and the old guard are accompanied by the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines (the type of band differ) and the Band of the Grenadier Guards respectively.

This video will cover the changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham palace and St James’s palace as well as preparations and dismiss at Wellington Barracks. The video will also cover the marches up and down the Mall and the road between the barracks and the Buckingham palace.
This a near 2-hour video is the combination of video and sound recording on the following dates:

Monday 18th November
Sunday 24th November
Monday 25th November
Friday 29th November
Monday 2nd December
Friday 6th December
Monday 9th December
Friday 13th December

Bit of a story:
I know that the first-ever Royal Navy changing of the guard took place in November 2017, however, because I was in university, I didn’t have the opportunity to see it myself. I was lucky to find about the second Royal Navy changing of the guard and since I had some time, I felt it was a unique opportunity to see it, film it and show it to you and everyone around the world. We may never see the Royal Navy on ceremonial duties for a very long time, but who knows.

According to some news articles, the reason why the Royal Navy was on ceremonial duties was that other army units were busy preparing for active service and therefore the Royal Navy was there as a replacement. But what I see, is a commemoration of the recent commission of the sister-ship of HMS Queen Elizabeth; the HMS Prince of Wales.

I know there may be comments about how bands appear different in different segments, or the colour and the flags are different or you may hear something that doesn’t coincide with the video. To answer these comments in advance, I had made editing methods for the sake of continuity, to allow the same music piece to be played as seamless as possible as some military music experts may find out. And the other reason is this; because I filmed on different days, the weather and the band composition differ, however, the procedures of changing of the guard is the same. I hope you understand this explanation.

Aside from this, although I only have 65 ish subscribers, I want to say thank you for your subscription. I also thank you for your patience since I have been away from making videos because of the mentioned reason, but with that over I am hoping to look for more opportunities to create more videos in the future. For changing of the guard videos, I am not sure if I want to carry on to make more videos on that particular topic, because quite frankly it’s so tiring from all the traveling, filming and standing for hours. But if it’s a changing of the guard ceremony outside of the UK, then I want to film that. I will try to look at ways to create videos on other topics, such as cooking for example.

I wish you a happy holiday, a happy new year and a happy new decade!

It gives me pleasure to present to you the changing of the guard ceremony featuring the Royal Navy and the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.
