On the 29th to 31st of October 2012, STARTeurope organized the Pioneers Festival, attracting the international start-up community to Vienna.
The 29th was Investors day and the beginning of the Pioneers challenge. The 30th and 31st were the Conference Days, where 2700 guests from all around the world, including 60 renowned speakers such as Matt Mullenweg (founder of WordPress), Adam Cheyer (founder of Siri) and Esther Dyson (VSC, chairman of EDventure Holdings) are part of the Pioneers Festival on two tracks — the Trailblazers Track and the Startup Academy.
Another exciting part was the Startup Challenge. The TOP 50 tech / web / mobile start-ups out of a field of 850 applicants battled it out for the prize money of 25000 Euros and the prestige of the Pioneers award.
During the Conference Days (Oct 30th -- 31st) there was a mixture between discussions, speeches and interactive workshops with topics concerning entrepreneurship, innovation and technology. Big steps have been taken to ensure the Festival feeling is assured — local and international focus events, entertainment, extreme sports sessions, gaming and a huge Halloween closing party.
