Stara Baška, Lost Paradise on Krk Island 2021

Stara Baska is a village two kilometers long in the southern part of the island of Krk. It has many small sand and rock beaches, but the most beautiful is Zala beach just one kilometer from center. Above the Stara baska beach you can see the ruins of the church of St. Jerome.
Stara Baska is one of the windiest parts of the island, and cuz of that there is only low growth vegetation among which is a very common herb sage.
In front of the bay, about 3 km from the village, is the small, uninhabited island of Galun
Stara Baska was founded in the 14th century as a settlement of refugees before the Turkish invasions, they founded their shepherd's village here at the end of the island. Until the second half of the 17th century it was called Kraj or Pod Kraj, and the locals were Krajina.
From the 17th century the present name of Stara Baska began to be used, although in fact Baska was older than Stara Baska by its time of origin.
Stara Baska is 8 km away from Punt, 16 km from Krk, 45 km from Krk Bridge and 70 km from Rijeka city.
