So what makes "I" so important?

When you start your sentences with "I" you're focusing on communicating your observations, feelings, thoughts and wants.

When you use "you" you're more likely to focus on assumptions about the thoughts, feelings, actions, and characteristics of the listener or the person they are talking about.
