Making a Fluted Mug with a Colored Clay Body for Marble or Agateware Throwing, Trimming, and Finish
Agateware is a name given to marbled pottery made from two or more different colors of clay, resulting in a swirly or layered appearance. This nickname comes from the stone agate because of the distinctive layers.
This video demonstrates creating a marbled cup which is fluted, revealing the layers of the marbled clay underneath. I show the process of throwing, trimming, fluting, making a handle, attachment, and final cleaning. I use a Giffin Grip for trimming. http://www.giffingrip.com/
