USMLE Biostatistics: Effect Modification
In this chapter we will introduce effect modification, discuss how effect modification occurs, and how it differs from confounding bias. Effect modification and confounding bias are often confused because they both involve the influence of a third variable, however, unlike confounding bias, in effect modification, the exposure is truly related to the outcome. This is an essential topic to understand for the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK.
