1ST * HOW TO TEST * NO HEAT *Zone Valve-End Switch-Thermostat Diagnose Testing Diagnosing fix fixing

Steps to test your Zone valve motor, End Switch, and Thermostat.
Diagnose the problem on your own and save hundreds of dollars!
Fix it yourself! You can do it -
1st - Check the thermostat to make sure the batteries are good and these setting are correct.
2nd - Turn off power to zone valve motors and then switch the bad one with a good one and see if that fixes the problem. If it does it is the motor.
3rd - If not the motor check the end switch
4th - Check thermostat by switch controls as I did.
5th - Check connections
If your heater fails to turn on it does not mean you have a faulty heating system or need an expensive repair. Troubleshoot your Zone Valve Motor, End Switch, and Thermostat.

Check thermostat;
1st - Check your thermostat - must be in the heat position
2nd - Check batteries if unit takes batteries
3rd - Check thermostat setting - Heat or Cool setting
4th - Check programming on a programmable thermostat
5th - Turn the thermostat above current temperature to test if zone
valve opens/heat turns on.
6th - Thermostat should clicking to turn furnace on.
7th - Try swapping similar thermostat covers to see if thermostat is faulty-if the one suspected to be bad works in the other zone it is not the control - check wiring
8th - Check with a voltmemeter to make sure proper voltage is getting to your thermostat.
9th - Turn off furnace breaker and expose wiring. Most thermostats use low voltage and there's no risk of electrocution, but presume all are high voltage as precaution.
10th - Check wire connections - should be tight.
11th - Record the wiring connection on a notepad or with photo(preferred).
12th - 1st Remove wire in R or Rh position 2nd the wire in the W position
13th Twist wires together, flip breaker on to see if furnace/boiler comes on.
14th - If furnace doesn't turn it may be the thermostat, first trouble shoot zone valve motor and end switch, before making any final determinations. Please check out my other videos before calling a technician.

Easy Fix Honey Well V8043 3/4" zone valve. If your heat won't turn off or your heat won't turn on because your zone valve is not working, then you most likely have a zone valve motor issue. These motors are easy to replace and take less than 5 minutes. I purchased my online for $25 shipped to my door 3 days later. I purchased an extra, so if in the dead of winter I have to replace one I am not stuck in 30 below weather without heat. The valves rarely go out and if you have someone come over to fix your heat, they will most likely just replace your motor. You may have an end switch out as well. If you are unsure if it is your motor I suggest switching a motor from a zone valve that is working with the one you believe is faulty. If the one you believe is faulty is not working on the valve that was working you know it is your motor and not the end switch. This takes a few minutes. Plus buy buying the motor and installing for far less than the repairman will charge for a 5 minute job. Should always have spare motor, so your pipes do not freeze on the 0 below zero days should you have an issue.
