When comets fail to impress us! Comet C/2019 Y4 ATLAS

11/15/2020. This is about the failed comet ATLAS from Spring of 2020, NOT any other. ATLAS is a discovery program and many comets are named after it!

4/8/20 Update C/2019 Y4 ATLAS might be done for :(. The comet might be breaking up. Don't say I didn't tell you so lol. Who knows though. Still too early to say for certain.

Will #comet #atlas put on a great show this year? My #astrophotography heart sure yearns for a good comet. We should know by mid or late April if this comet is the real deal or a big dud. If things go well, C/2019 Atlas Y4 might be a spectacular comet for just a few days in mid May for Northern Hemisphere skywatchers.

Comet Atlas is brightening well ahead of schedule, but can we really keep this up? Is it appropriate to hype this comet as being a big deal? Or will this comet burn out like so many before it?

Select "magnitude"

Check the box for "Fit Curve"
