Skin Cancer Awareness

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Skin cancer is a year-round concern, but in the long days of summer, more sun exposure and sunburns can be harmful. Skin cancer affects 1 out of every 5 people by age 70 and can be life-threatening. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends you do a head-to-toe self-examination monthly. Examine every inch of your body from head to toe. If you see new moles or blemishes, spots that change in color, shape, size, or texture, spots that are unusual in outline, or have a blemish that is continuously itchy, hurts, has a crust, or is bleeding for more than 3 weeks, contact your Primary Care Team.
