Jet Commercial Wastewater Treatment Packag Plant Components and Functions

Wastewater Treatment Plant Process Flow Description

The process starts with a flow equalization chamber that has a gravity fed inlet or it can be pumped into by a lift station. This chamber is designed to equalize the flow to the aeration chamber during surges through out the day. The flow equalization tank also has a blower which introduces air to the Jet diffusers; the diffusers are used for mixing in this tank and aerating this chamber. This is also a pretreatment chamber. The flow equalization tank has a submersible pump that is controlled by a 24 hour timer, which pumps to the aeration chambers to provide it with the necessary micro-organisms for the biological treatment process to begin.
The Aeration tank is the next chamber of biological treatment. In this chamber a blower is provided to aerate and mix the tank with Jet diffusers. Aeration basins supply large amounts of air to the mixture of primary wastewater and helpful bacteria and the other microorganisms that consume the harmful organic matter. The growth of the helpful microorganisms is sped up by vigorous mixing of air (aeration) with the concentrated microorganisms (activated sludge) and the wastewater. Adequate oxygen is supplied to support the biological process at a very active level. The ratio of food (organic matter) to organisms to oxygen is monitored and adjusted to meet variations in the wastewater.

The clarifier allows the biological mass (the microorganisms) to settle from the water by gravity. This mixture, called "activated sludge," is returned to the aeration basins to help maintain the needed amount of microorganisms. Air lift pumps return the settled sludge to the first aeration chamber for further treatment. The skimmer in this chamber removes the fats, oils and greases, returning them to the aeration chamber for further treatment. Supernatant leaves this chamber by gravity utilizing the effluent weir.

The Aerobic digester is equipped with diffuser for mixing and provides a holding tank for wasted sludge from the clarifier. Upon settling supernatant is pumped back to flow equalization.

Effluent from the clarifier travels through the Jet Chlorinator for disinfection. Effluent is stored in the chlorine contact chamber for a minimum of 30 minutes to sterilizing harmful bacteria.

Effluent from the Chlorine Contact chamber is then pumped through a filter for irrigation usage.
